Your Personal Radio Station

by Android Tips on June 15, 2010

Of course most seasoned Android users already know about Pandora. But for those who do not, here is what you are missing.

With the Pandora app, you can create your own radio stream based on an artist, album, or song of your choice. It is as simple as installing the app from your Android, starting up the app, type in your fave, put your earbuds on and jam!

So what happens then. Pandora will start streaming music to your Android, with the first song being right in line with your choice. You can vote the streamed song up or down, and future songs are streamed based on your voting. Like Molly Hatchet? Vote it up, and your future songs will contain more Molly Hatchet or similar songs. Vote Molly Hatchet down repeatedly, and you will see less and less of it.

I introduced my wife to Pandora about 2 weeks ago and it is now what she listens to while working out. She has a few “stations” created and chooses which to play based on here workout intensity and how she is feeling that day. To her, it was a great improvement over listening to the same playlists of music over and over again.

The app is updated pretty regularly, and I have noticed occasional glitches in playback. But the hiccups are few and far between. I really like this app and think it is worth a try for pretty much anyone who ever listens to the radio or an MP3 player.
